Mayor Hernández Bio:
               Norma has worked in the Community Development Financial Institution and credit union industries in the Walla Walla Valley and Seattle for twenty years, focusing on creating financial services and programs that are inclusive to all in a community, regardless of income level or banking history. In 2008, as CEO of a credit union in Seattle, Norma was instrumental in its conversion into the areas first CDFI/Low Income Credit Union, serving communities that were unbanked and victims of predatory lending practices.  She has been a CEO, Executive Vice-President, President, COO, Director, and Department Manager throughout her career. 

Norma has volunteered and served on numerous boards, committees, and community groups that seek to provide families with opportunities that allow for financial stability and asset building, at all income levels, that lead to personal resiliency and growth. 

Norma currently works as an executive vice-president at Blue Mountain Credit Union and was appointed to the City of College Place City Council in March 2019 and following the resignation of previous Mayor Harvey Crowder was appointed in August 2019 to the position of Mayor. 

Norma is originally from El Paso Texas, where her ancestors settled after immigrating from Mexico in the early 1900. She and her husband, Aaron, are high school sweethearts and have lived in Washington State since 1987.
