COLLEGE PLACE MAYOR ANNOUNCES SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY AVAILABLE FOR COLLEGE PLACE HIGH SCHOOL or HOME-SCHOOLED SENIORS!
 Mayor Norma Hernández is pleased to invite College Place Seniors to apply for the 2022 $1,500 scholarship sponsored by AWC Center for Quality Communities for student to encourage leadership development and civic engagement to those pursuing post-secondary education.

Mayor Hernández will personally review each application and will nominate one College Place High School or Home-Schooled senior applicant to AWC for consideration for a $1,500 scholarship.

Student Eligibility
Students interested in competing for the Center for Quality Communities scholarship must be:

  • Involved (or have been involved) with a city government or a community/school leadership activity;
  • Eligible to graduate from College Place High School, complete home schooling within the City of College Place, or live in College Place and will receive a GED in spring/summer 2022;
  • A City of College Place resident; and
  • Planning to continue education in the 2022-2023 academic year at an accredited college, community college, or trade school on at least a half-time basis.
Application Process
  1. Complete the AWC Center for Quality Communities 2022 Scholarship Application in full.
  2. Get one letter of recommendation from a nonrelative such as a community leader, high school teacher, principal, or counselor.
  3. Write a 2-3-page personal essay to Mayor Hernández telling her why you believe you are or will be a future community leader. Be sure to include your leadership activities at school, any civic engagement, and any recognitions or awards you have received.
Deadline
Submit your entire completed application to Mayor Hernández by dropping it off at College Place City Hall or mail by January 10, 2022 to:
